Saudi Arabia has set a firm timetable for the next stage of Hajj preparations, opening a window for Hajj affairs offices and international service providers to reserve pilgrim accommodation in Makkah and Madinah. Priority reservations begin on June 30, 2026 and run until August 13, 2026.

The Reservation Timeline

According to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the reservation period for the 1448 AH season opens on June 30, 2026. During this window, Hajj affairs offices and international Hajj service providers can secure priority bookings for accommodation in the two holy cities.

The Ministry said organisations seeking to retain their existing locations within the holy sites will receive priority consideration when contracting for the new comprehensive service package. The reservation period closes on August 13, 2026.

By fixing the window now, the Ministry gives service providers a clear runway to lock in housing close to the holy sites well ahead of the season. Accommodation near the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah is the most sought-after element of any package, and early contracting helps determine what will be available to pilgrims.

Linked to a New Service Model

The booking window is tied to a reshaped service model announced by Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah during the Ministry's annual closing ceremony in Makkah. Under the new model, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah is combined with transport and catering into a single integrated package.

Saudi authorities said these bundled services will become mandatory components of pilgrimage programmes throughout a pilgrim's stay in the Kingdom. The Ministry has also reduced Hajj package offerings to three categories and discontinued the budget-oriented Package D.

The reforms are intended to streamline pilgrim services, raise accommodation standards and strengthen oversight of operations. They form part of a wider effort to modernise the management of one of the world's largest annual religious gatherings.

What It Means for Pilgrims

For pilgrims abroad, the reservation window matters because it shapes what packages will be available, and at what standard, well before the 2027 season. Early contracting by service providers usually means earlier package announcements and clearer pricing for pilgrims in their home countries.

It also reinforces a shift away from piecemeal arrangements. With accommodation, transport and catering now bundled, pilgrims will increasingly compare complete packages rather than booking individual elements on their own.

Practical tips for prospective Hajj 2027 pilgrims:

  • Watch for early package releases. Provider bookings from June 30 may be followed by package announcements in your country. Track your national Hajj authority.
  • Budget for integrated services. With bundled accommodation, transport and catering now standard, compare full-package pricing rather than individual items.
  • Note the loss of Package D. The most budget-oriented option is being phased out, so plan your finances around the three remaining tiers.
  • Book early through licensed offices. Demand for closer accommodation is high. Contract through official Hajj affairs offices as soon as packages open.
  • Keep documents ready. Have passports, vaccinations and savings in order ahead of the booking rush.
