The Haj Committee of India has extended the deadline for Hajj 2027 applications and confirmed the date for its selection draw. The online application window, originally set to close on July 20, was pushed to 11:59 PM on July 24, 2026. The Committee said the extension followed requests from several state Haj committees.

In its notification, the Committee made clear the deadline would not move again. "No further extension shall be considered under any circumstances," it said, urging applicants to complete their forms without delay.

Qurrah draw set for July 30

The Committee has fixed the Qurrah, the digital random selection process, for 11:00 AM on July 30, 2026, at its headquarters in Mumbai. The draw determines which applicants secure a place, and the proceedings will be live-streamed on the Haj Committee of India website so applicants can follow the outcome.

Provisionally selected pilgrims will be notified by SMS, and the selected and waiting lists will be published online. Those chosen must deposit an advance amount of 152,300 rupees on or before August 10, 2026, to confirm their place. The figure includes processing fees, and payment must be made online or through designated bank branches. The same date is the final deadline to upload the signed application form, the payment receipt, and a medical fitness certificate.

The Committee also set strict cancellation rules. It warned that withdrawing an application for any reason other than the death or serious illness of the applicant will attract penalties and financial loss. Applicants were advised to apply "only after careful consideration."

Quota, embarkation points and key conditions

Saudi Arabia has allotted India a quota of 175,025 pilgrims. Under the country's Hajj policy, 70 percent of the seats go through the Haj Committee of India, with the remaining 30 percent handled by private tour operators known as Haj Group Organisers.

For the 2027 season, India will operate 19 embarkation points, up from 18 the previous year. Pilgrims must list two preferred departure cities in order of priority. The confirmed points span the country and include Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Indore, Patna, Jaipur, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kannur, Vijayawada, and Calicut. The Committee noted that the Patna point remains subject to clearance from aviation and home affairs authorities.

Applicants must hold a passport issued on or before the closing date of the application form and valid until at least December 31, 2027. Women aged 45 and above who wish to travel without a male mehram may do so in groups of four or more, where their school of thought permits. Pilgrims over the age of 65 must travel with a companion.

Guidance for applicants

The Committee reminded pilgrims to arrange sacrificial rites, known as Adahi or Qurbani, only through entities authorised by Saudi Arabia, and warned against fraudsters offering unofficial coupons. It said it would issue an advisory outlining the appearance and features of legitimate Adahi coupons.

The likely dates for Hajj 2027 are May 16 to 21, 2027, though the final schedule depends on the sighting of the moon for Dhul Hijjah 1448. The flight schedule will be released later.

Practical tips for Indian applicants:

  • Confirm your passport is valid at least until December 31, 2027, before applying.
  • Watch for the SMS notification and check the published lists after the July 30 draw.
  • Keep funds ready to pay the advance amount by August 10, since the deadline is firm.
  • Apply only if you are certain, as cancellation carries penalties except in cases of death or serious illness.
