Bangladesh has announced its official Hajj packages for the 2027 season, with the government cutting the airfare for pilgrims by Tk 24,830 and fixing the lowest state package at Tk 5,05,648. The private sector followed with its own tiered packages, signalling that preparations for next year's pilgrimage are now well under way.

Government packages and reduced airfare

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain announced the government packages at a press briefing at the Secretariat in Dhaka. The highest government package was set at Tk 6,15,263 and the lowest at Tk 5,05,648.

The most notable change is the reduction in airfare. According to the minister, the fare for Hajj flights has been cut by Tk 24,830 from the previous year to Tk 1,30,000. He said the move reflected the government's pledge to ensure an affordable, accessible and expatriate-friendly Hajj management system.

Under the first government package, pilgrims will be accommodated within 1,000 to 1,400 metres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and in the Markazia area of Madinah. They will stay in Zone-2 tents in Mina, with services and meals in Mina and Arafat provided under Service Package-3 through authorised Moallems. The expected stay in Saudi Arabia will be between 35 and 40 days, with options to upgrade rooms or select a shorter package for an additional charge.

Pilgrims under the second package will stay within two to three kilometres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and within 800 metres of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, outside the Markazia area. Their accommodation in Mina will be arranged in Zone-5 tents. Shuttle bus, known as Salawat, services will be provided in line with Saudi rules if hotels are located more than two kilometres from the Grand Mosque.

Private agency packages

The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh, known as HAB, separately announced three private Hajj packages for 2027 at a press conference in Dhaka. HAB president Syed Golam Sarwar unveiled the packages alongside secretary general Farid Ahmed Mazumder.

The special package was priced at Tk 7,91,060, the general package at Tk 5,95,580 and the economy package at Tk 5,13,545. The government-approved general package will remain mandatory for private pilgrims, and Golam Sarwar said no agency would be allowed to offer services inferior to those in the government's approved general package.

Under the private standard package, accommodation must be arranged within three kilometres of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and within one kilometre of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. A maximum of six pilgrims will be allowed in each room, with Zone-5 tents in Mina and Salawat bus services made mandatory where hotels sit more than two kilometres from the Grand Mosque.

Currency and cost pressures

HAB said the package prices were calculated on an exchange rate of Tk 33.20 per Saudi riyal. If the exchange rate changes before Hajj, the prices will be adjusted accordingly. Compared with the 2026 season, private costs have risen across all categories. In 2026, the special package cost Tk 7,50,000, the general package Tk 5,50,000 and the economy package Tk 5,10,000. The association attributed the increase to higher operational costs and adjustments in service charges.

What pilgrims should do next

Prospective pilgrims are advised to complete all formalities through authorised agencies and to follow official instructions on package selection and payment schedules. Those choosing a government package should confirm accommodation distances and Mina tent zones, since these directly affect the level of walking and shuttle transport required during the rites.

Practical tips: Verify that any private agency is licensed before making a payment, and keep written records of the package tier purchased. Budget for possible price adjustments tied to the riyal exchange rate, and confirm whether Salawat bus services are included for your Makkah hotel. Pilgrims with mobility concerns should prioritise packages offering accommodation closest to the Grand Mosque.
